Helen was born in Jersey City, NJ, on July 26, 1935 to James and Helen (Herman) Mostyn. On June 25, 1949, at the age of 13. Helen met her first and only love Robert (Bob) J. Watson. On July 11, 1953, they were married in Sacred Heart Church, Jersey City. Together they enjoyed dancing,theater, playing golf, and traveling for more than 66 years.
Together they left Jersey City in 1964 and moved to Aberdeen, NJ, where they lived for 25 years and raised their 3 children. While raising her family, Helen went back to school and obtained a degree from Rutgers University to teach Cosmetology in the New Jersey School system where she taught for many years. In 1985, Helen and the love of her life moved to Jim Thorpe, PA, and eventually settled in Port Charlotte, FL in 1992.
Helen was always a creative soul. While living in Aberdeen, she used many of her creative talents in performing, directing, and starring in The Saints and Sinners community theater productions. After retiring, Helen turned her talents into becoming a multi-faceted painter. She painted in many styles using a variety of techniques. Her favorite medium was watercolor. She attended many seminars to further enhance her work. With her passion for color and her creativity, Helen painted many works of art.
In addition to her parents, Helen was also predeceased by her sister, Dorothy (Mostyn) Schwartz. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bob, her son Robert Jr. and his wife Patti (Gerlach), a daughter Linda, and a son Thomas and his wife, Moni (Syravong). Helen was blessed with five grandsons; Joseph, Jason, Robert, Spencer, and James, and four granddaughters Saxon, Serene, Jennifer, and Lindsay, and one great-granddaughter,
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a catholic prayer service at 7:00 PM Tuesday March 22, 2016 at Roberson’s Funeral Home, 2151Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33949. (941-629-3141) Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 23, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 1441 Spear Street, Port Charlotte FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Helen Watson may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Center, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101, the Only You Foundation, Inc, P.O. Box 854, Fairfield CT 06284, or the charity of your choice. Friends and loved ones may visit at www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family. Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Port Chapel.
