Helen E. Magar, 97, of Port Charlotte, Florida was called to her Eternal Home on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Signature Healthcare in Port Charlotte.
Helen was born to John and Elizabeth Kovach on December 25, 1915 in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Port Charlotte in 1979 with her husband of 64 years, Andrew. She retired from the Cleveland Public School system as a school secretary of 24 years. Helen was active as a volunteer at the Cultural Center with Fun with Music, the Charlotte Pops Orchestra and the Royal Palm Retirement Center. On many Sundays prior to her and her husband’s death, they would go to the Royal Palm Retirement Center and entertain the residents there with their music. She also did a lot of crocheting and would give away many Afghans and little crocheted dolls.
She is survived by her son, John “Jack” (Eileen) Magar; a daughter in law, Mary Magar; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew and her son, Andrew James.
Visitation will be held 10:00AM-11:00AM, Friday, August 2, 2013 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Port Charlotte, FL.
