Howard McAuley, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Queens, New York, Howard spent most of his life living and working on Long Island. He proudly served as a police officer for over 30 years and later served 11 years with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, dedicating his life to helping others and serving his community and country. He was deeply respected within law enforcement, known not only for his professionalism but also for his kindness and genuine care for people.
After retiring, he moved to Florida, where he cherished his later years with his family. Howard will be remembered as a kind and generous man, always eager to help anyone in need. He had a huge heart, especially for his family, and his compassion left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, his law enforcement colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.
A graveside service and interment will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
