He was born September 21, 1928 in Jamaica, West Indies, and moved to Port Charlotte in 1991 from Hartford, CT. He was a retired machinist, and member of the Port Charlotte New Testament Church of God in Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melrose Smith of Port Charlotte; a daughter, Jeanette Smith of
Bloomfield, CT; three sons, Clancey Smith of Orlando, Collie Smith of Long Island, NY and Junior Smith of Hartford, CT. three Sisters, Lucille Simons of West Palm, FL, Ruby Small and Elaine Stephenson; two brothers, Timothy Stephenson and James Stephenson, both of Port St. Lucie, FL; and 8 grandchildren. Ira was proceeded in death by a son, Paul Smith.
