Ivy, born the only child of the late Louise and Bernard Chang in Kingston, Jamaica West Indies on April 25, 1921, operated a family run business in Kingston with her husband John Chance while raising her ten children. In 1978, Ivy immigrated to Boston in the U.S. to be closer to her children, and then moved to Port Charlotte in 1989. She was a devoted catholic and member of San Antonio Catholic Church.
She is survived by nine loving children, Maisie (husband Tony) Ernandez, Myrna (husband Adolph) Lambert, Norma Chance, Violet Chance-Sams, Colletta Fowler, Kay (husband George) Dorman, Adrian (wife Agatha) Chance, Phillip Chance, and Dennis (wife Suzette) Chance; and numerous grand and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband John, Ivy was preceded in death by a son, Robert.
Funeral Mass and visitation will be held this Monday, May 13, 2013 at San Antonio Catholic Church on Rampart Blvd. in Port Charlotte. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until start of Mass at 10:30 a.m.
Memorial donations in Ivy’s name are suggested to the nonprofit Arthritis Foundation.
Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Port Charlotte Chapel.
