James Robert Blunk, 81, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Sunday, July 9, 2007 in Port Charlotte.
He was born May 1, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to Port Charlotte from there in 1982. He was a retired communications manager for The Western Electric Division of A.T. &T. now Lucent Technologies. James attended the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post #110, V.F.W. Post #5690 both of Port Charlotte, and the Telephone Pioneers of America. James was a member of the Bonsai Club and the Charlotte County Art Guild. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years in Indiana and a veteran of the Korean War, U.S. Army.
Survived by his wife, Helen W. Blunk of Port Charlotte; two sons, David and Dean Blunk of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Denise Ryan and a step-daughter, Evelyn Riley, both of Fishers, IN; 8 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 14 step-great grandchildren.
