James P. “Jim” Enos, 85, of North Port, Florida, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 in his North Port home surrounded by his family.
Jim was born December 16, 1926 in Boston, Massachusetts, and was proud to serve his country in both World War II and the Korean War. He is a life time member of the Blinded American Veterans, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was also a long term railroad employee and retired from Amtrak in September 1975 after 34 years of service. Jim, a dedicated father and communicant of San Pedro’s Catholic Church in North Port, will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, who liked nothing better than to make people laugh.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorraine “Lee” M. (nee – Sears), and their seven children, sons Russell, Gary, and Ken Enos, and daughters Laurel “Laurie” LaPorte, Linda Fitzgerald, Charlene Cimeno, and Margaret Heydecker; fourteen grand, and eight great-grandchildren; brothers Jack and Fred Enos, and sisters Mary Butler, and Alice Pollock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at San Pedro Catholic Church 14380 Tamiami Trail in North Port, with Entombment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens cemetery in Port Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial bequests in Jim’s name are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
