JAMES FORD, 88, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Charlotte Harbor Health Care, Port Charlotte.
James was born April 4, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Thomas and Angela Ford and moved to Port Charlotte 26 years ago from Long Island, New York. He was a retired general contractor specializing in residential construction and a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army. James was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church of Port Charlotte. James was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and he will forever be missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his loving family, a daughter, Deborah Swick of Punta Gorda, FL; two sons, Gregory Ford of Long Island, NY and Jim Ford Jr. of Port Charlotte; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy.
Visitation will be held Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Oct. 3, 2013 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 1:00 PM at San Antonio Catholic Church, Port Charlotte. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida.
