James was born December 14, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Port Charlotte 4 years ago from Stuart, FL. James served in the Korean War for the US Marine Corps. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 8328 in New York. James was a wonderful husband, father and friend and will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan R. Nichols, two sons, James J. Nichols, Jr. of Duchess County, NY and Robert W. Nichols of Port Charlotte, FL; 2 sisters, Ann Heavey of Pennsylvania and Helen Nichols of Staten Island, NY; 2 brothers, Frank Nichols of Staten Island, NY and George Nichols of Queens, NY; 2 grandchildren, Emma and Robby; and several nieces and nephews.
