Janet Marie Sundberg, 87, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at her residence.
Janet was born on February 2, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Bernard and Phoebe (Marentette) Linenfelser. She spent her adolescent years in Detroit and graduated from Mackenzie High School where she was member of the sorority Sigma Gamma Nu. She worked for Michigan Bell before she married her husband, Eldon, with whom she spent 62 loving years until he passed in 2013. Although Michigan was always home, they found years of wonderful retirement down in the Punta Gorda area of southwest Florida. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was deeply religious and always a comforting presence to those around her.
She is survived by her five children, Eldon D. Sundberg, Carol (Tim) Sundberg-Deibel, Anne Piche, James (Bozena) Sundberg, and Daniel (Sheri) Sundberg. Grandchildren Sean (Lori) Turner, Storme Sundberg, Eric Sundberg, Aimee Matthews, Timothy (Mallory) Deibel, Alex Deibel, Nikole and Megan Piche; seven great-grandchildren and her dear sisters Joyce Muchler and Pauline Benedict. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eldon.
A Memorial Mass of remembrance was held for Janet at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, where she will have her eternal rest in the Memorial Garden. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
