Jean A. Mastrogiovanni, 78, of Punta Gorda, Florida died Monday, December 31, 2018 at Bayfront Health-Port Charlotte.
Jean was born July 6, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Joseph and Mary Yannace Famighetti. She was a retired office correspondent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Jean and her husband, Frank moved to Punta Gorda in 2004 from Jersey City, New Jersey. She was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church of Port Charlotte. She graduated from Franklin K. Lane H.S. in Brooklyn N.Y. Jean was the treasurer of the Sons of Italy organization, for many years. She also was the present Treasurer at the Italian Heritage Social Club. She loved dancing and singing karoake. She was loved by all for her warm and concerning personality. Jean was always on the go, doing one thing or another in the club and at home.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband of 54 years, Frank J. Mastrogiovanni of Punta Gorda, and only child, Gina, and husband, James with children Gabriel Francis and Cagney Jaymes Lindberg, of Spooner, WI;, sisters, Esther (Michael) Boccio of New York, Sandra (Michael) Johnson of California and Maria Moscala of Florida; brothers, Anthony, Rocco, Michael and Joseph Famighetti, all of New York. She was preceded in death by brothers Peter and Charles.
Survivors also include her husband Frank’s brother, John (Helen) Mastrogiovanni, sister, Rose (Edward) Engelhardt, and brother, Donald (Josephine Mastrogiovanni, as well as many cousins on both sides that she spoke of. Also many loved club members and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM, January 8, 2019 at San Antonio Catholic Church, 24445 Rampart Blvd., Port Charlotte, Florida 33980. Interment will in the San Antonio Memorial Garden at the church.
