JEANETTE ANN DiGIOVANNA, 77, of East Lyme, CT and Port Charlotte, FL passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1930 in The Bronx, New York, the daughter of Rudolph and Albina Scheinberger. She met her husband Anthony at the New York Naval Shipyard at which time she was participating in a Shipyard Management Program. She was a resident of East Lyme, CT until her and her husband Anthony retired to Port Charlotte, FL in 1995. Jeanette was very active in East Lyme politics and Town affairs.
She was a member of the Giants Neck Beach Association Board of Governors, Vice- Chairman of the East Lyme Republican Town Committee, Town Charter Study Commission, the Town Charter Commission, Chairman of the Board of Tax Review and Town Tax Collector for 22 years. She was also President of the Connecticut Tax Collectors Association and head of the Connecticut Tax Collectors Certification Committee.
Upon retirement she became an avid oil painter and enjoyed shuffleboard, cards, dominoes and crossword puzzles. She and her husband also did volunteer work with Meals on Wheels in Brattleboro, Vermont and cafeteria work at the Cultural Center in Port Charlotte, Florida.
She is survived by her husband Anthony, children Richard of Fairfax Station, VA; Paul of Yorkville, IL; Stephen of Niantic, CT; Michael of Yorba Linda, CA and Jean Marie of Watertown, MA; grandchildren Joseph Paul, Michael Vincent, Joseph Reeves, Joshua King, Matthew James, Emily Marie and Connor Richard.
