John Stoddard “Johnny” Blair, 72, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte. His devoted family and friends were at his bedside.

He grew up in Falls Church, Virginia and later Irvington, New York. He attended La Salle Military Academy and Irvington High School in New York. He partnered with his brother-in-law, Tony “Sonny” Garofalo in several business ventures including Waste Disposal Systems of Manchester, Connecticut and farming. Until his illness, John was employed at Riverwood Golf Club as the maintenance technician. John was a proud Marine, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and attended San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.

Johnny is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Angela Garofalo Blair, his children, Debra Blair Kauffman of Enfield, CT, Dawn Blair Beliveau of Port Charlotte, FL, and Sean Patrick Blair of East Windsor, CT; and a multitude of Blairs and Garofalos that love, respect and miss him.

We will always remember Johnny as loving his dear wife Angela, his family and friends with a joy and sense of humor that was contagious. Our hearts are also grateful for the love and care Johnny has received over this past year from friends, family, and medical professionals, and particularly the staff at Tidewell Hospice, Inc. of Port Charlotte, FL. Over 50 years of memories, wonderful and precious and far too many to share. I loved Johnny with all my heart and soul and will always remember those twinkling blue eyes, that mischievous grin and his sense of humor. I regret that I didn't get to see him before he passed but we did speak on the phone and had the opportunity to express our love for one another and for that I am grateful. You will always be in my heart and in my memory...gone but not forgotten. I love you John, forever Linda
