John M. Hardy, 80, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
John was born November 25, 1930 in Langhorne, Pennsylvania and moved to Port Charlotte in 2004 from North Fort Myers, FL. He graduated in 1948 from John Bapst High School in Bangor, ME. He grew up in Great Pond in Hancock County and later went to college at the University of Maine in Orono, ME where he graduated Delta Tau Delta with a Bachelors Degree in Business in 1956. He was a Korean War veteran who served proudly for 4 years with the U.S. Navy. John was an avid fisherman and hunter. He treasured going RVing with his wife all over the U.S. particularly in Alaska. He regularly traveled to Europe for work related business involving International Shipping for the United Shoe Machinery Corporation. He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle and friend and will be missed exceedingly by all who loved and knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Lea Hardy; his son, Robert Clark Hardy of Derry, N.H; a sister, Pauline Tony of Fairbanks, AK and several nieces and nephews.
