John W. Kessler, 87, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011
at Tidewell Hospice House in Englewood. He was born March 24, 1923 in Germany and moved to Port Charlotte in 1990 from Richfield Springs, New York. Veteran of
World War II serving in the US Army European Theater of operations 42nd Rainbow Division, taking part in the rescue of the Lipizzaner Stallions. John was a retired salesman for Nabisco Corporation. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather who will be missed but not forgotten.

Survived by his loving wife of 61 yrs. Betty Lou Kessler of Port Charlotte a son, John (wife-Denise) Kessler of Dayton, OH; a daughter, Deborah (Husband- Frank)Rizzo of Tampa, FL. Two grandchildren, John Kurtis and Alisa Kessler

My name is Wolfgang Christ. I am writing from Germany. Today I got the address of John and Betty Lou from my mother Maria Christ who is the cousin of John. We are very said about his demise. My mother did not had any contact with them until my fathers death in 1996. He knew 'Hans' and Betty Lou very well. They both had been several times in Heimbach-Weis, where I was born as well. I asked her today to tell me more about our relatives in th US because I will visit Florida together with my wife Susanne from may7 to may14.to participate in the congress for the new urbanism in Palm Beach. I am an architect and professor for urban planning and urban design at the Bauhaus University Weimar, Germany. We have two daughters, Marlene who is 25 now and our elder daughter's name is Alisa, she is my stepdaughter. I mention this because John has a granddaughter with the same surname.
