John Gaspard Paré, 87, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 26, 2014.
John was born January 3, 1927 in Manhattan, New York to the late Dorothy and Gaspard Paré. After serving proudly with the U.S. Navy during World War II, John began a long career in Law. He worked as a legal Attorney for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 27 years in their New York City Offices, and later their Tampa, Florida Offices, where he and his wife Carol would retire to in 1978. John, a great athlete, enjoyed a wide range of physical activities, but loved most of all playing Tennis. He was an active member of the Catholic Church, environmentally concerned, politically active, and worked diligently to help those less fortunate. To be closer to their family John and Carol moved from Tampa to Port Charlotte in 2012.
He is survived by his beloved family, loving wife of 57 years, E. Carol Paré; their children, sons John G. Paré Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, and Paul W. (Edson Pinto) Paré of Lubbock, Texas, and daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” (James H.) Tietsworth of Punta Gorda, Florida; two grandsons, Bailey and John Tietsworth of Punta Gorda; a sister, Annette Lintz, and numerous other extended family members.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. this Friday, August 8, 2014 with 7:00 P.M. Evening Wake Service at Roberson Funeral Homes Punta Gorda Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. Committal with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy will follow Monday at Sarasota National cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
