He was born August 21, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Bernardo and Christina Lopes. Joseph was a retired Computer Programmer for AT& T in New Jersey. He and his wife, Eleanor, moved to Florida In 1988 from Fords, NJ. He was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church of Port Charlotte and Elks Lodge #2673 of Deep Creek. He was also an avid golfer.
Joseph is survived by his loving family, three sons, Robert Lopes of Neshanic Station, NJ, Joseph B. Lopes, Jr. of Wilmington, DE and Jonathan Lopes of Moorestown, NJ; their wives, Kathy, Denise and Donna respectively, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor Ann Lopes, who died in 2017.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00AM, Friday, May 18, 2018 at San Antonio Catholic Church, 24445 Rampart Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33980. Interment will follow in the San Antonio Memorial Garden at the church.
