Joseph Norbert Clough, 91, of Port Charlotte, FL peacefully went to his heavenly home on May 17, 2012.

Mr. Clough, the son of Joseph Henry and Blanche Hull Clough, was born on January 5, 1921 in Pitcher, New York; the youngest of their six children. Mr. Clough was preceded in death by his precious wife of 61 years, Dorothy Jeanne Hughes Clough in 2003. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his devoted daughter and her husband, Gail Ann and James A. Alcott of Glenmoore, PA; his loving son and his wife, Gary Edward and Kathleen Lennon Clough of Cambridge, MD; three dear grandchildren, Julie Lennon Griffin and her husband Sean Griffin of Kingston, NY; Lt. Cmdr. Gavin Hughes Clough, USS Princeton, San Diego, CA; Catherine Elizabeth Clough, Buffalo, NY, and three beloved great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Pop-Pop the Great,” Michael Patrick Griffin, Liam Conor Griffin, and Maeve Anne Griffin. Mr. Clough was the dearest brother of Ms. Ruth Clough of Cortland, New York, and the late Ralph Clough, Beulah Baldwin, Mary Jones, Kenneth Clough; and to Rodney and the late Richard Auwarter, children of family friends who were raised with him as brothers. Many nieces and nephews also survive Mr. Clough.

Mr. Clough leaves his dearest friend and loving companion, Betty Honisko of Port Charlotte and many devoted friends. He especially enjoyed and appreciated the close friendship of his longtime colleague, Fred Indermauer and his wife Bobbi, former Colonie and Port Charlotte neighbors, Bob and Nancy Case, Joe and Mary Lowery, Bob and Mary Sanford, Keith and Donna Waltz, and many others.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Albany, NY.

Thinking of you Pop-Pop this Memorial Day weekend, and wishing we could be enjoying a whiskey and a laugh together up at the fire at Little Camp while watching Isabella chase the chipmunks.

We were his friends from Quebec province in CANADA. we have enjoyed his friendship through all those years at the golf courses and at the OAKS activities. We are sorry for your loss and JACK will be in our prayers. Yvette & Justin Gignac

To Jacks family and friends. Jack will always be remembered as a cherished friend to both my Dad and myself. One of my Dads final wishes was to have a drink with jack at his 90th birthday party in Pt. Charlotte, unfortunately, we did not have that drink as my Dad passed. We only knew Jack for a few years, but he brought joy to me on the golf course and in our professional relationship. we are blessed to have shared a small part of his life. Our prayers are with the family and many friends during this difficult time.

Jack was always the lynchpin in all family matters and social gatherings and adventures with his, literally, hundreds of friends. A remarkable man, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Jack took care of all of us and many others, both known and unknown to him. He leaves a wonderful legacy, and set the bar high for others to emulate. We all miss him, and will try to carry on with his many memories that were unique to each of us. I will miss getting that box of Turtles for Christmas!

Jack was a friend to many and our sincere sympathy goes out to his family in their loss and to Betty who lost a dear friend and companion.
