Joseph John Marchese, Sr., 74, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Joseph was born on September 1, 1951, in Bronx, New York. He later moved to Long Island before relocating to Florida in 1979 with his beloved wife, Jeanette, and their children. Joseph and Jeanette shared forty-two beautiful years of marriage before her passing in 2013. Later in life, Joseph was blessed to find love again and shared eleven cherished years with his wife, Carolyn Marchese.
Joseph dedicated 28 years of his life as a fiber optic technician with Comcast, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. Beyond his career, his greatest joy was his faith and his family. He was a devoted member of Port Charlotte Global Methodist Church, where he shared his love of music by playing bass guitar on the worship team. His love of music began in childhood when he taught himself to play by ear. While growing up in New York, he played in several bands, and that passion stayed with him throughout his life. He later used his musical gifts to serve in worship ministries, sharing his talent with various churches and Christian bands.
Joseph will be remembered for his kind heart, steady faith, quiet strength, and the way he made everyone feel loved and valued. He was a devoted husband, father, papa, brother, and friend, and his presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Carolyn Marchese; his daughters Donna (Chad) Elick, Tammy (Edward) Sherkus, and Christina Horton; and his sons Walter (Kathy) Stawarski and Joseph (Lisa) Marchese Jr. Also survived by his stepchildren Michele (Monty) Rodriguez, Jamie (Philip), Dunn, Carole Welsh, and Duane Pinter.
His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Kaelianna (Kyle), Xavier (Leyla), Gabriella, Chelsea (Charles), Nicholas (Arianna), Eathan, Abigayle, Joseph, Gabriel, CJ, Branson, Dylan, Jasmine, Taylor, and Sierra; and his step-grandchildren Sidnee, Brenden, Reese, Indee Grace, Owen, Esme, and Will. He is also survived by his beloved fur baby, Cali, his brothers Tommy and Paul, his sister Angela, and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Jeanette; his parents, Joseph, and Vincenza Marchese; his brother Ronald; and his sisters Anna and Vivian.
Joseph will be remembered for his faith, his music, his dedication to family, and the love he shared so freely with those around him. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will continue to live on in the lives he touched.
