Joy Monica Scott, age 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Port Charlotte, Florida.Joy was born October 12, 1939 in Granston, Port Maria, Jamaica to Marion and Roland Johnson. She attended Granston Primary School until her parents migrated to London, England. After her teenage years she became a telephone operator for the Inland Telex Service. During that time, her 1st crush who had lived in Jamaica migrated to London, England. His name was Benjamin George Scott. They courted for many years and were married in 1961. Out of that union they had two (2) children. The oldest daughter Josnet and their baby girl, Patricia.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Roberson Funeral Home’s Port Charlotte Chapel located at 2151 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Murdock Baptist Church at 18375 Cochran Blvd in Port Charlotte, with committal and entombment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens cemetery, also in Port Charlotte, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joy’s name are suggested to St. Jude’s Research Hospital (ID# 22864788) P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 in Memphis, TN 38148-0142.

It is so hard to put into words the shocking and sad news of the loss of my wonderful and caring auntie. I tried to think of my best memories and all that continues to flood my mind is auntie Cherry's hug. You felt safe and very love with an auntie Cherrie hug. So now as heaven receives its blessing my love and prayers for strength go out daily for all left with only memories.

My heartfelt condolences go out to you all, at this devastating time. Auntie Cherry was a special lady, She took me under her wing when my mum died, so i wouldn't feel alone. We all loved her so much and will miss her. I am heart broken that i cannot be there for her final journey.
