Julie A. Kavan Leuzzi, 76, of Port Charlotte passed away Saturday May 26, 2012 at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, Florida.

Julie was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Albert and Caroline Kavan, the youngest of four sisters. She attended Garfield Heights High School where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband Patrick. She was also invited to study concurrently at Cleveland Institute of Art where she excelled at Fashion Design. She graduated in 1954 and married Pat a few months later on September 18th. Julie worked at Republic Steel as a secretary until the birth of their first daughter Meg in 1958. Daughter Fay was born in 1962, and in 1966 the family moved to Miami, Florida, where Julie became the bookkeeper for her husband’s wall covering business.
After surviving Hurricane Andrew, Julie and Pat moved to Port Charlotte in 1994. From 2008-2012, Julie worked at Goodwill Industries in Port Charlotte. Julie learned to play classical piano as a young girl and enjoyed hosting parties at home and entertaining guests throughout her life. She also loved butterflies.

She will be greatly missed by her surviving family, her daughter Fay, son-in-law Russ, grand children Joshua and Jesse, Sisters Pat Whearty and Carol Kavan, first cousin Joni Chaloupka, along with many extended family members and friends. Julie was preceded in death by her daughter Meg in 1970, and her beloved husband Pat in 2007.

A Celebration of Life Service for Julie will be held Monday 2:00 PM, June 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, 507 W Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.

Although we didn't see Aunt Julie a lot because we lived so far from her, we kept in touch with Christmas cards and phone calls. She was always so sweet, happy and just nice to talk to. Always asking about my boys and how things were with us. It's a comfort to know she's in a better place, but she will be greatly missed. Love you Aunt Julie! Cheri

Julie was very shy as a child. But we would have fun together working at the bakery our parents owned. We would play a game and see how much of the food we could get rid of to the customers. As an adult she was fun to be with, a good entertainer and a very good cook. I enjoyed visiting her. We talked on the phone often, probably more than we would have had we lived closer together. It made me feel good. Julie will be greatly missed.

When we were young, as the two younger sisters, we were very close and had a lot of fun. We shared a room and to help us fall asleep we played boat! We would play from the shipwreck through the rescue until we were so tired we fell asleep! I missed you so much when you moved to Florida. Despite that, as we grew older, we continued to grow closer. My wonderful sister, my friend, I will always love you and miss you until we meet again. God bless you. Love~Patricia

So many tender memories of you as a comforting, guiding presence in my life that will be greatly missed. You and Uncle Pat were always available to soothe a hurt or to dry a tear. In your later years you once again showed your strength. Dear Aunt Julie you are so missed, but now you are in Heaven with Uncle Pat and Meg praising God for all eternity.

One of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. I'll miss talking to you about Florida and so many things. And now you are holding God's hand and will walk with him, through out all Eternity. Love always, my Dear Aunt Julie. Cousin Larry

Our hearts are like memory books. It holds all the loving thoughts of you. Recorded year by year...A book of golden yesterdays. Aunt Julie you were always a rare edition to me. You have always left heart prints of kindness, compassion and genuine love in my life. Day by day, may loving memories heal our family's hearts. I am thankful that the Lord blessed me with one of life's greatest treasures. YOU!!!! Jesus assures us that we will live again with GOD in heaven.

Auntie, I am so sad that you are gone, but happy to know I will see you again in heaven.. You are finally with Uncle Pat and Meg, Grandpa and Gram(Mary Wezzie) My family will have wonderful memories of Easter with you. So glad we spent time together this February and April. Seems our best of times are always eating and drinking and celebrating. Especially the meatball saga with Jackir e, too funny, you always went with the flow as crazy at it was at times. Auntie you and Uncle Pat were always a wonderful part of our family jaunts to Floriday every year. Foofoo drinks and laughs at so many restaurants, evenings on the lanai , shopping for cheeses, our rides at night all will never be forgotten. You will be missed I will never forget you or my wonderful Uncle. Until we meet again!!! I love you!!! Barbara Anne
