Julie A. Kavan Leuzzi, 76, of Port Charlotte passed away Saturday May 26, 2012 at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, Florida.
Julie was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Albert and Caroline Kavan, the youngest of four sisters. She attended Garfield Heights High School where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband Patrick. She was also invited to study concurrently at Cleveland Institute of Art where she excelled at Fashion Design. She graduated in 1954 and married Pat a few months later on September 18th. Julie worked at Republic Steel as a secretary until the birth of their first daughter Meg in 1958. Daughter Fay was born in 1962, and in 1966 the family moved to Miami, Florida, where Julie became the bookkeeper for her husband’s wall covering business.
After surviving Hurricane Andrew, Julie and Pat moved to Port Charlotte in 1994. From 2008-2012, Julie worked at Goodwill Industries in Port Charlotte. Julie learned to play classical piano as a young girl and enjoyed hosting parties at home and entertaining guests throughout her life. She also loved butterflies.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family, her daughter Fay, son-in-law Russ, grand children Joshua and Jesse, Sisters Pat Whearty and Carol Kavan, first cousin Joni Chaloupka, along with many extended family members and friends. Julie was preceded in death by her daughter Meg in 1970, and her beloved husband Pat in 2007.
A Celebration of Life Service for Julie will be held Monday 2:00 PM, June 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, 507 W Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
