Kaarina Isabella Small, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Marquette, Michigan died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at home.

She was born October 12, 1936 in Marquette, Michigan to the late, Johannes and Helmi T. Osterberg. She was a long time resident of Port Charlotte for over 50 years. Kaarina devoted her life to her husband and five children. Prior to her husband, Gary’s passing, they traveled between Florida and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where she enjoyed the back drop of the northern woods.

Kaarina was preceded in death by her husband, Gary R. Small of 57 years. She is survived by her loving daughters, Amber (Trey) McCartt of Elsah, IL, Liisa (Tipper) Nichols of Boston, MA, Anna Conti, Port Charlotte, FL; two sons Kristopher Small of Port Charlotte and Johannes J. Small (Jill) of Satellite Beach, FL. as well as five grandchildren, Waylon (Nicole) West and Sarah West Allen, Kris Jr. (Vanessa) Small, Katie Small, and Kristian Small and five great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her sister and brothers: Lotta (Jay) Stewart, Marquette, Mauri Osterberg, Marquette and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Paul Osterberg.

Private memorial services will be held by the family at a later date.
