Kathleen G. Mahoney, 74, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte. She was born June 2, 1937 in Jersey City, New Jersey and moved to Port Charlotte fifteen years ago from Maryland. She retired from Raytheon Corp. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.

Survived by her brother, James Mahoney of Toana, VA; three nephews, James Mahoney, Jr. of Denville, NJ, Michael Mahoney of Daytona Beach and John Mahoney of Milton, NJ; four nieces, Karlene Obert and Kathleen Preziosi of Williamsburg, VA., Maureen Traverzo of Netcong, NJ and Monica Mahoney of Franklyn, NJ

Visitation will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Inurnment will be held in St. Charles Memorial Garden.

I remember when I was a little girl I thought to myself when I grow up I want to be just like Aunt Kathleen. I looked up to her so much. Her style was one of her own. I can still hear her laugh and saying yeah Jimmy or yeah Bobby. Those are her two brothers. I'm not saying goodbye because I know she is with the father and he prepares a mansion for us and he has plenty of rooms. We were so saddened to learn of Kathy's passing. She was such an encouragement as we watched her walk by our apartment on her frequent walks around Heritage Oak Park.
