Ken was born August 3, 1952 in Waterloo, New York, and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. A Commercial Truck Driver for many years, Ken left his native New York for South Carolina, moving to Florida in 2002 to be closer to his sons and family.
Ken is survived by his sons, Lucus (Linda) Van Tassel of Port Charlotte, and Roy (Stephanie) Van Tassel of North Port, FL; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Gloria (Scott) Scott of TN, two brothers, Marvin (Linda) Van Tassel of FL, and Kirk Van Tassel of PA; a sister-in-law, Jane Van Tassel of NY, and nine nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Carl Douglass and Alice May Van Tassel, Ken was preceded in death by a brother, Danny.
A private Memorial service for Ken will be held in Port Charlotte. Further services and committal will be held this July, in his native New York.
Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Homes & Crematory, Port Charlotte Chapel.
