Dr. Kenneth M. (Doc) Weinland, 95, formerly of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Westminster Bradenton Towers in Bradenton, Florida.
Ken was born on September 21, 1913 in Wells County, Indiana. A retired Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine and 20 year Professor Emeritus of Purdue University, Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who moved with his wife Keturah, from West Lafayette, Indiana in 1979 to Sebring, Florida, and then Port Charlotte in 1986 where he lived until relocating to Bradenton in 2004. He was a long time member of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, life member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, the Lions Club of Port Charlotte, Masonic Blue Lodge, Shrine and Scottish Rite; member of the Animal Welfare League, Visually Impaired Persons, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Christian Veterinary Mission.
Ken is survived by his beloved daughters, Cheryl Kinerk of Bradenton, FL, and Jackie Bick of Newhall, CA; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Keturah A. Weinland, two sisters, Velma Grace and Iantha, and a brother, Robert.
