Leigh J. Kemnitz, 77, of Nokomis, Florida passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 in Venice, FL.
She was born July 31, 1936 in Raleigh, North Carolina to John Hicks Johnson and Margaret Wells Johnson.
Growing up in Raleigh, Leigh was an avid horsewoman. She attended Hollins University in Virginia. After moving to Florida in the 1960’s, Leigh spent many happy years working and playing at Eye of the Needle, a needlepoint shop in Sarasota. In recent years, she has spent her time with knitting, quilting, needlepoint, and always most importantly caring for her many pampered canine family members.
Leigh was the widow of Terry G. Kemnitz, and is survived by her beloved Belle and Jubal and her loving family, sister Margaret E. Johnson of Raleigh, brother, John H. Johnson of San Mateo, CA, a niece, Jane L. Johnson of San Mateo, CA., and 2 nephews, John H. Johnson of Reno, NV and James T. Johnson of Denver, CO.
Funeral services and interment will be held in Raleigh, NC.
