Leo A. Harms, 86, of Punta Gorda, Florida and formerly of Alma, Michigan died Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Tidwell Hospice, Port Charlotte.
He was born February 9, 1928 in Ithaca, Michigan and has been wintering in Punta Gorda for nineteen years and moved to Punta Gorda permanently two years ago. Leo was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army. He was a retired welding supervisor for an oil refinery. He was a member of American Legion Post #103 of Punta Gorda, Punta Gorda Elks Lodge and Punta Gorda Moose Lodge. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grand-father who will be missed, but not forgotten.
Survived by his wife, Roberta Harms of Punta Gorda; three daughters, Kimberly Mottlau, Karen Massaro, and Kathi Carter; two sisters, Donna Naffziger and Louise Luneacke; a brother, Charles Harms; two step sons, Barclay Mavis and Kurtis Mavis; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
