Lewis Earl “Dutch” Vaughn, Jr., 81, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 in Port Charlotte.
Dutch was born November 15, 1929 in Bureau Township, Illinois and moved to N. Fort Myers, FL in 1961 and subsequently to Port Charlotte in 1986. He was a golf course superintendent for many years working at the Cape Coral Country Club, Royal Palm Beach Country Club and Newport Country Club. He owned a Landscaping business known to many as Dutch’s Landscaping servicing people in Venice and Charlotte County. He was a superb husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will everlastingly be remembered by all who loved and knew him.
Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn K. Vaughn; son, Randy (Eleanor) Vaughn of Murphy, NC; 3 grandchildren, Eric (Amy), Ryan and Randi Vaughn and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Lewis, Sr. and Treva Vaughn and sister, Joyce Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238.
