Lorin T. Cope, 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Florida.
Lorin was born December 9, 1929 in Columbiana, Ohio and moved to Port Charlotte in 1989 from Miami, FL. Lorin was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a meteorologist for Eastern Airlines for over 30 years. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved nature, golfing and often times he painted nature and landscaping scenes. Lorin was an avid puzzle solver, enjoyed being intellectual weather its reading or learning something out of the ordinary. He loved motorcycles and sailing. He loved his family very much and will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Billie Cope; 3 daughters, Carla Cope of Longboat Key, FL, Karen SanCartier of Morgantown, KY and Kimberly Giminez of Coral Springs, FL; a sister, Erma Chadwick of Mantua, OH; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, Friday, July 27, 2012 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 27, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment and military honors by the US Navy will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.
