Luckner was born on February 22, 1953, in Haiti to Gerard and Servilie Levasseur. He later made a life in the United States where he built a career rooted in hard work, leadership, and service to others. Luckner worked as a mortgage consultant and banker for over 25 years, beginning his career in New York. He later worked with FEMA for approximately 20 years and also spent time in real estate, bringing his knowledge, discipline, and determination into every role he held.
Beyond his work, Luckner was a man full of life, humor, talent, and strength. He had a deep love for music and performed in a band where he played instruments and served as a lead singer. He loved comedy and laughter, enjoyed working out to stay fit, and remained active for as long as he was able. Luckner had the mind of an engineer and was known as a “Mr. Fix-it.” To close family, he was lovingly known as “Superman,” a man who often did not know his own strength. More than anything, Luckner will be remembered for his heart. He was humble, generous, patient, kind, intelligent, mentally and physically strong, and deeply devoted to his family. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need and was admired by many for his quiet strength and unwavering work ethic. Luckner was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country honorably. Luckner will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Luckner leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Leone Levasseur; his daughter, Carine Levasseur of Port Charlotte, Florida; and his son, Luckner (Darice) Levasseur, Jr. of Sarasota, Florida. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren; his sisters, Gerda (Pierre-Marie) Dieudonne and Carole (Victor) Legros; his brother, Yvens (Jacqueline) Levasseur; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who loved him deeply and will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard and Servilie Levasseur, and his brother, Guy Levasseur.
A visitation will be held 11:00AM-12:00PM, Friday, May 22, 2026 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Entombment will follow to Charlotte Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda, Florida.
