Luther “Luke” Frederick Miller, Jr. , 89 of Port Charlotte, Florid died Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Harbour Health Center, Port Charlotte.
He was born New Years Eve, December 31, 1926 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania to the late Dora (nee-Blair) and Luther F. Miller. Luke was a graduate of Sunbury High School, Class of 1944 and Bucknell University, Class of 1951. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Merchant Marines.
He liked to say he had a varied working career which included process engineering for electronics manufacturing companies, quality control for the Dept. of Defense and as owner of a Day Care/Kindergarten named “Sunberry Hill School” in Jarrettown, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Miller of Port Charlotte; daughters, Nancy Pridgen of Glen Allen, VA, Anne Cobb of Rockville, MD and Amy Miller of London, England; and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a younger brother, Karl O. Miller.
Memorial services and inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA will be held at later date.
