Marie Marguerite Semerand, 92, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013.
Marguerite was born on June 16, 1921 in Haiti. She eventually immigrated to the U.S., settling in Irvington, New Jersey, where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Certified Babysitter. Marguerite then moved to Port Charlotte in 1990, and a devoted catholic, joined the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Port Charlotte.
She is survived by her older sister, Lucita Semerand of Port Charlotte, FL; a son, Dr. Eddy G. Rodriguez of Brooklyn, New York, and son-in-law, Pouplard Brutus, Sr., also of Port Charlotte; five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Marguerite was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Brutus in 2009.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 with evening wake service at 8 p.m. this Friday, June 21, 2013 at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Committal will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens cemetery in Port Charlotte.
