Marie T. Sgriccia, 92, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Punta Gorda.
Born April 5, 1922 in Clymer, Pennsylvania, Marie, a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army Nurse Corps and retired registered nurse, moved with her husband Mario Thomas “Tom” Sgriccia from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Punta Gorda in 1981. Marie was a member of the Alumni Association of the Indiana Regional Memorial Hospital in Indiana, and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Women’s Guild in Punta Gorda.
She is survived by eight children, sons Thomas Sgriccia, James (Valerie) Sgriccia, William (Mary Anne) Sgriccia, John (Sue) Sgriccia, and Joseph Sgriccia; and daughters, Vicki A. (Bill) Stewart, Maria T. (Marty) Money, and Rita L. Sgriccia; she is also survived by nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren; a brother, Anthony Bonarrigo, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family members. Marie was preceded in death by her parents Domenic and Victoria (nee – Perry) Bonarrigo, a brother, Nicholas, and her beloved husband of 60 years, Tom.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial with military honors presented by the U.S. Army will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, Punta Gorda.
