Marlene May Knoll, 84, of Punta Gorda, Florida died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Harbour Health Center, Port Charlotte, Florida.
Marlene was born September 16, 1934 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to the late Clarence and Esther Brown. She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School 1952 and was Valedictorian of the class. She eloped and married her husband Jack on December 13, 1952. Jack’s Naval career took him, Marlene and their two daughters, plus two pets to duty stations in Rhode Island, Japan, California, Texas, Greece and Washington, D.C. She moved to Punta Gorda in 1978 from Washington, D.C.
Marlene had a love of travel and curiosity about other cultures. Her organizational skills, pragmatic nature and always a gracious hostess, made her well suited to her life as a loving military wife for 23 years. Over the years she made many lifelong friends. She was a great seamstress, loved to dance, played the accordion and had a passion for NFL football and her 4 legged children. Marlene was a retired secretary for the Farr Law Firm in Punta Gorda, a devote Catholic and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband of 65 years, John “Jack” Lee Knoll of Punta Gorda; two daughters, Cheryl “Cher” (Kenneth) Jarosz-Leone of Lake Forest, IL and Jacquenette “Jackie”(Richard) Mitchler of Appleton, WI; a brother, Duwayne (Bunny) Brown of Fort Atkinson, WI; 5 grand daughters and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her son-in-law, Richard Jarosz.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM, October 24, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W. Charlotte Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Interment will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida at 1:30 PM Wednesday.
