She was born on January 29, 1938 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She married her husband Bill in May of 1958 and raised their 3 children while living in various places around the world. Mary Ann eagerly followed her husband’s career path to Barcelona Spain, Tehran Iran, The Netherlands, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Upon returning stateside, she lived in New Jersey, Arkansas, and Virginia before finally retiring in 2001 and settling in Punta Gorda. In addition to living overseas, she traveled extensively to all corners of the world during her retirement. Mary Ann, a published nature photographer (Gramma with a Camera), and artist, had a love of horses, wildlife, nature, and the great outdoors. She also volunteered at the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center for many years.
If Mary Ann wasn’t home doing cross stitch or needlepoint, or playing mahjong with her amazing Florida friends, she might be found driving her enormous white GMC Denali XL solo around the country. She made many trips to both NJ and Arizona where her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren live. No trip was too far to go alone, including one trip from Florida to Arizona with a couple of days touring Mt Rushmore in between. Mary Ann was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will forever be missed by all who loved and knew her.
She leaves behind her 2 sons Brian and Kevin, her daughter-in-law Patty, 5 grandchildren (Lindsay with husband Rob, Kelly with husband Lou, Greg, Lily, and Rosie) and 2 great grandchildren (Emmett and Saylor). She was preceded in death by her daughter Karen, her husband Bill, and her brother George (Mickey) and his wife Joan.
A visitation will be held 9:00AM-10:30AM, Monday, October 28, 2024 at Roberson Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel. A graveside service and interment will follow at 11:00AM at Indian Spring Cemetery in Punta Gorda.
Arrangements by Roberson Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel.
