Mary Jane “MJ” Pieters, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte after winning her battle with breast cancer and then losing her brief fight with acute leukemia.
She was born March 12, 1934 to the late Elsie E. and Sam G. Cacioppo in Omaha, Nebraska. She married Donald J. Trovato in 1955 and married W.H. Pieters in 1993. Mary Jane retired from Union Pacific Railroad in St. Louis, Missouri in 1998 and in 1999 she and her husband moved to Port Charlotte. MJ loved her home in paradise, her, family, the sun and beach, her two furry kids and her Weight Watchers family of 14 years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survived by her loving family, W.H. (Pete) Pieters of Port Charlotte, sons, Stephen J. (Jill) Trovato of Omaha, NE, Michael J. (Rita) Trovato of Port Charlotte; a sister, Catherine “Cathy” Cacioppo of Long Beach, CA; brothers, Benjamin F. (Carol) Cacioppo of Omaha, NE and Joseph “Joey” Wiechert of Omaha, NE; five grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Catherine “Cathy” Ann Koch.
Visitation will be held Monday 6-8 PM, Dec. 30, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM, December 31, 2014 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Inurnment will be held later at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota Florida.
