Mary Ruth Frost left the loving arms to join the Lord on Christmas evening 2020. Ruth or “Frosty”, to those who knew her, loved her friends and family. She adored and spoiled dogs including her beloved Dixie. She enjoyed travel, music, food, riding her bike and getting together with friends. She was a member of several clubs, societies and places of worship in the towns that she called home.
Ruth was born on February 20, 1940 to Glenn and Anna Dibble. She grew up in Traverse City, MI and attended St. Francis schools. She graduated from Sexton High School after she relocated to Lansing, MI where her mother taught at Holy Cross. Throughout her years in Lansing Ruth worked as a hair model, a cashier at the Gladmer theater, a book keeper eventually as a Respiratory Therapist at Ingham Medical until she retired and moved to Florida in the late 1980s. She also worked part time as a “mate” for Kingfisher Cruise line in Punta Gorda.
Ruth traveled the world over the years yet came to love Georgia like she had lived there all of her life. She didn’t really care for planes but LOVED boats and was good on the water. She was a great driver with a bit of a lead foot. If there was a festival, “singing”, concert, trip, party or gathering you could count on her to be there. With a love of flowers, also came a love of gardening in her spare time, an activity she enjoyed greatly. A woman blessed with the “gift of gab”, she could strike up a conversation with anyone and made friends where ever she went. People just felt comfortable with her.
She had a sharp wit and was always looking for a chance to laugh. She was sassy, outspoken, stubborn, sometimes defiant yet was forgiving and tolerant in her views. A wonderful, fun person that will be truly missed by her friends and family. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marjorie and Elizabeth, and her loving husband and soulmate Arthur Frost. She leaves behind daughters Valerie (Mark) Stevenson and Cynthia Willis, son Michael (Lourdes) Willis, grandchildren Siera, Kayla, and Miles, and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
At her request, there is not a funeral service planned for Ruth at this time. We ask that instead you take the time to care for yourself, reach out to those you love or give back in some way to your community. In lieu of flowers we ask that you consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or local animal shelter.
