Letter to my son…
My hands were busy through the days, but I always tried to stop and play. The little games you asked me to, I am so glad I spent the time with you. I’d wash your clothes, sew and cook, but when you’d bring your picture book, and ask me please to share your fun, I’d say sure son. I’d tuck you in all safe at night and hear your prayers, turn out the light. Then tiptoe softly to the door, I am so glad when you asked me to come back and stay a few minutes more. Your life was to short, the years rushed by. My little boy grew up too fast.
No longer are you at my side, your precious secrets to confide. The picture books are all put away. There are no longer games to play. No more goodnight kisses, no more prayers to hear. My hands once busy now are still. The days so long and it’s so hard to deal. I wish I could go back and keep you safe, I’m sorry. We will meet again another time, another place. Remember, who loves ya Bubba? Mama does.
