Montrose L. Brown, 81, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte.

Montrose was born to Noel and Kathleen Brown on January 13, 1933 in Jamaica, West Indies and moved to Port Charlotte in 1995 from Chicago, Illinois. Montrose was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte for 18 years. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend and will forever be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Louise; 3 sons, Michael, Winston and Alfred Brown all of Chicago, IL; 5 daughters, Carol Coleman, Patsy Holness and Hyacinth Gowie all of Chicago, IL, Sharon Brown of Jamaica, WI and Dorrel Brown of Sarasota, FL; 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 9:00AM-11:00AM, Monday, January 27, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte, 20035 Quesada Ave. Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00AM, Monday, January 27, 2014 at the church. Entombment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte “Faithful Fund”, 20035 Quesada Ave. Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

I will always remember Montrose as a fun loving guy with a great sense of humor. Every time I saw him at church, he would shake my hand and try to make me laugh. He loved the Lord, his wife and family and life. He enjoyed his church family and participated as much as he was able. I am blessed to have known him and Louise and thankful for the footprint he left on my heart :)

We thought the world of Montrose! He was a wonderful caring, upbeat guy. Always had a smile on his face! He would always ask me, Liz what his name was and I would tell him and he would laugh! I guess he thought I would not know his name. He suffered much but always with a smile. He was faithful to his Lord !Now he has seen him face to face! Oh, what glory that will be for those who love Him and have put their trust in Him. Our prayers are for Louise who will miss him so much but we would not wish him back to this sin sick world. I will miss my grandpa. He was the best at everything he did. He was all about family. everytime I would talk to him, I always felt happy. He was always up beat. The world just loss a great man. Everyone should have a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, like him. But, I know I will see you again. the only thing god will chance about you, is your health. No more sickness.

We had the pleasure of knowing Montrose and Louise when we participated with them in the Silver Sneakers classes at the Punta Gorda Club. They were a wonderful couple and Montrose was always so upbeat, despite his obvious health problems. We are left with many fond memories.
