Myron was born on July 10, 1935, in Aurora, Illinois to the late Marshall Edward and Maybelle Grace(Allsup) Jones. Myron married Betty (Corzine) Jones on August 31, 1957. Myron worked as a supervisor for Armstrong World Industries and started his own construction business with his brother David Jones.
Myron was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Myron’s fondest memory was a bicycle ride with his brother Dave from Bradley, Illinois to New York and then returning home when he was 17 years old. Myron had a strong work ethic; he was diligent, tireless, and dedicated to any project he pursued. One of Myron’s favorite verses comes from, 1 Timothy 6:7 ,“For we brought nothing into the world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
Myron is survived by his children; Pam Hourihan of Port Charlotte, FL, M. Glenn Jones, Jr. of Bradley, IL, Timothy (Donna) Jones of Cape Coral, FL, and Jeffery (Lori) Jones of Port Charlotte, FL. Myron is also survived by his siblings Carol Fugere of Des Moines, IA, and Paul Jones of Dwight, IL, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Myron was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Jones, his parents, sisters Phyllis Steinman and Ardell Kolkman, brothers David, Daniel, and Thomas Jones, a granddaughter Jessica Jones, a grandson Drew Jones, and a son in law David Hourihan.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 11:00 am; located at Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Kankakee, Illinois. The service will be a graveside memorial to lay both Myron and Betty Jones to rest.
Memorials in Myron and/or Betty’s names may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the SOS Donkey Haven in Golden Valley, Arizona.
