Nancy T. Liebel, 83, formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, in St. Charles, Mo.
She was born March 23, 1931, in Buffalo, N.Y., to George and Elizabeth (nee Nolte) Danitz.
Nancy fled cold Midwestern winter weather and moved to Port Charlotte in 1984, where she worked as a real estate title searcher, until her retirement in 1998. In her younger years, she was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Nancy loved playing the piano and organ, and painting. She enjoyed attending classes at the Cultural Center of Charlotte County, Fla., on a wide range of subjects; and was an avid traveler, especially on Caribbean cruises. After moving to Heritage Oak Park in 2003, she was a regular at the Thursday card games.
She leaves behind her children and their families to lovingly remember her, Craig Liebel of Santa Barbara, Calif., Marcia (Ted Mittler) Liebel of Williamsburg, Va., Keith Leonard of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Scott (Denise) Liebel of Cottleville, Mo., Kurt (Melony) Liebel of Woodinville, Wash., Julie (Richard) Drudi of Port Charlotte, John Leonard Jr. of St. Charles, Mo., and Shelley (Rick) Hickerson of O’Fallon, Mo.; her brother, Thomas “Tom” of Sebring, Fla.; sister-in-law, Patricia Liebel of Erie, Pa.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald A. Liebel; her second husband, John C. Leonard; her parents, George and Elizabeth Danitz; and her brother, Robert “Bob,” and his wife, Nancy Danitz.
A Gathering celebrating Nancy’s life will be held this Friday, September 12, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Homes Port Charlotte Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.
