Nelida Borselli, 84, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
Nelida was born to Antonio and Teresa Maresca on October 12, 1929 in Argentina and moved to Port Charlotte in 1990 from Long Island, New York. Nelida was an active member of numerous community organizations including, the Italian-American Club of Punta Gorda, FL, The Republican Club, the Filipino-American Club and St. Charles Borromeo Isabella Guild. As a teacher for many years, Nelida shared her love of languages by teaching Italian and Spanish to students at the Public Library. She started her career as a typing teacher in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She came to New York in 1969 and was proud of achieving US citizenship during America’s Bicentennial on July 4, 1976. In addition to her family, Nellie was loved and supported by a close network of dear friends.
Survivors include her granddaughters, Barbara Merola of New York, NY and Laura (Sebastian) Frisk of London, England; her step-son, Romano Borselli of Italy; her son in law, John J. Merola of Port Charlotte and 3 nieces. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paladino; her daughter, Elida Merola and her 2 brothers, Joseph and Michael Maresca.
Visitation will be held 2:00PM-4:00PM & 6:00PM-8:00PM, Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Port Charlotte, Florida.
