Patricia B. McNamara (Pat), 72, of Port Charlotte Florida died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
Pat was born in Bronx, New York, in 1949 to the late Grace Adele and William Patrick McDonough. Pat met her husband Gary when they were teenagers growing up in the same neighborhood. They married in 1968. In the early 1970’s Pat and Gary moved from Miami to Port Charlotte, where they raised their family. Pat graduated from Florida Southern College
with a Bachelor’s Degree. She taught early childhood education throughout Charlotte County. Over the years she would be known to many as Ms. Pat or Ms. Mac. She retired from the Charlotte County school system in 2015.
Pat is survived by her loving family: her husband Gary B. McNamara of Port Charlotte, FL; Sons Mark Albert of Port Charlotte, FL, and Allen McNamara (Amy) of North Port, FL; Daughters, Nichole Dunn (Justin) of Punta Gorda, FL, Norene McNamara of Jacksonville, FL, and Teresa Davis (Sheldon) of Port Charlotte, FL; Sister Louise “Mickey” McDonough of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Brothers, Barry McDonough and Keith McDonough both of Port Charlotte, FL; Thirteen grandchildren, Angelo, Kordell, Tyler, Carson, Cayden, Adrianna, Xavier, Lincoln, Stella, Sylas, Addison, Elijah and Jagger. Pat was preceded in death by her sister, Janine Cahoo.
Family and faith were Pat’s priorities. Pat leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, gratitude and abundant generosity. She made everyone and everything feel special. Whether it was birthdays, holidays, or awards, any achievement or occasion, big or small, was celebrated. She leaves behind traditions and memories that will be passed down for generations. Her life embodied her dynamic Christian faith. She and her immediate family worship at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. Pat’s abiding presence will be felt by those who knew and loved her for years to come.
A celebration of her life will be held by her family at a later date.
