It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Patricia Lynn Towne (nee Hanna) on September 25th, 2024.
Patricia was born May 19th, 1953, in Dansville, New York to Kenneth Hanna and Margaret Hanna (nee Strayline.) Patti grew up on her family farm in Leicester, New York where she developed a love of nature and animals. Patricia met the love of her life and soulmate, Richard (Ric) Towne in 7th grade at York Central School. She attended College at Alderson Broaddus University in Phillipi West Virginia, where she majored in Physical Education and developed many life-long friendships.
Patti lovingly and fervently served her family and community and had a strong love for animals, advocating for their health and well-being as well as serving on the board for the Animal Welfare League. Patti lived for her husband, her children and her grandchildren who were her absolute pride and joy. Together Ric and Patti celebrated over 40 years of being happily married prior to his passing in 2016.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Margaret and her one and only true love, Ric Towne. She is survived by her siblings Suzann Marquess of Port Charlotte, FL, Mike (Mary Jo) Hanna of Hammondsport, NY and Margaret Hanna-Seaman of Rochester NY. Her three children Brandi Towne of Port Charlotte, FL, Megan (Orloff) Civil of Tampa, FL, and Seth (Tara) Towne of Punta Gorda, FL as well as her five grandchildren (Seth, Avery, Braylon, Brielle and Preston) as well as many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 10:00am at Deep Creek Community Church in Punta Gorda. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either of two foundations that Patti supported and strongly believed in; The Tim Tebow Foundation (timtebowfoundation.org) or the Port Charlotte Animal Welfare League (awlshelter.org.)
