Peter Anthony Mitchell, 82, Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away January 3, 2025, peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Born on March 13, 1942, in London, England, Peter lived a life filled with adventure and memorable moments with family.
Survived by his family, his beloved wife, Karen of 38 years; two sons, Mike A. Mitchell (wife-Jessica) and Marc E. Mitchell (wife-Caroline); stepson, Andrew C. Dow (wife-Dawn); four grandchildren, James A. Mitchell, Julia M. Mitchell, Anthony A. Dow, and Logan M. Dow; and many cousins in Florida and Canada.
Peter immigrated from Lithuania to Canada when he was a child, then to the United States where he joined the Army in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969 as a combat engineer. He worked for Delta Air Lines in Chicago for 22 years, retiring as a ground operations supervisor. Once retired, Peter and his wife Karen moved to Punta Gorda in 1994 to build their dream home.
Peter was a man of many passions. Peter found solace and joy in the ocean, spending hours fishing and exploring its depths. He and Karen shared a love for travel, embarking on numerous cruises to destinations around the globe. Peter was a meticulous homeowner, taking great pride in caring for his property. He was a talented home chef, delighting his cherished wife with delicious meals and spoiling her with affection.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 10, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30AM at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948. Graveside services and military honors will follow at 11:00 AM Friday at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 1380 Forrest Nelson Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
