PHYLLIS EMILY DAILY, nee REED; on January 12, 2011, God put his arms around Phyllis … and whispered, Come with ME. She passed away peacefully, at the age of 91 years, in Port Charlotte, Florida. Phyllis’ late parents, Stanley Reed and Mabel Lillian Clark of Coboconk; late brother, Ernie Reed of Brampton; late sister, Betty Crump of Pickering, greeted her this day. She will be missed by her sister-in-law, Ruby Reed, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Phyllis was a graduate of Mimico High School and a member of St. James Anglican Church, Etobicoke, Ontario. In the fifties and early sixties, she owned and operated two businesses in Fenelon Falls — a restaurant and a children’s clothing store. Thereafter, Phyllis resided in California and Oregon, before moving to Florida with her daughter, Diane Gleed. She so loved the warm weather, the southern wildlife — birds, manatees, dolphins; and her wonderful friends and neighbors.
As the light of life dimmed for Phyllis, she could be reminded of dancing at the Palais Royale on Lake Ontario, harvesting peaches, cherries and berries on her acreage in Oregon, and playing cribbage in the American Cribbage Congress tournaments. She was most proud of her 29 hand trophy and many fancy cribbage boards won in tournament play.
Phyllis, my dear mom, you are snug in my heart … and I hear you singing, I’m in heaven when I see you smile — YOUR DIANE.
