Raymond L. Tonucci, 77 of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013.
He was born in December, 1935 in Lackawanna, NY. He grew up and raised his family in the Buffalo, NY area. During his time in Buffalo he pursued a career in sales and claims management at Gibraltar Steel. In addition to his career with Gibraltar Steel he also completed 20 years with the New York State Racing and Wagering Board where he retired holding the title of Presiding Judge.
Following their retirement Ray and his wife, Bobbie, moved to the Port Charlotte area in 2001. Here they enjoyed several years of golfing and the friendship of many dear members at Kingsway Country Club. While in the Port Charlotte area, Ray began a second career becoming an active member of San Antonio Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Financial Board. His connection with the church further deepened with his involvement and leadership in both the Men’s Emmaus Movement and in his membership with the Knights of Columbus Council #12456. As a Knight he achieved his Fourth Degree and served his Council and Assembly in a variety of leadership positions including, Financial Secretary and Faithful Comptroller of the St. Jude Assembly.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Alberta (Bobbie); his son, David and his daughter-in-law Karen, of Cincinnati, OH; his son, Anthony, of Houston, TX; his son, Joe and his daughter-in-law, Stacie, of Charlotte, NC; his sister Roseanne Molloy, of Laurel, MD; his nine grandchildren Jessi, Jacki, Sam, Gabe, Ben, Mia, Brendan, Gianna, and Bayley; and his niece, Amy and her husband Michael and grandnieces Catherine and Caroline, of Rochester, NY.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 11:00 AM at San Antonio Catholic Church, Deep Creek, FL. A burial service will be held in Lackawanna, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice -Philanthropy Department
