She was born June 14, 1926 in the parish of Hanover, Jamaica, West Indies to Henry and Eliza Swearing Connell. She moved to Port Charlotte in 1989 from Hartford, CT. She was a longtime member of Community Life Center of Port Charlotte.
She is survived by her loving family, a son, Donald A. (Suzanne) Townsend of
Colchester, CT and 3 granddaughters Alicia, Brianna and Charisse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus C. Townsend who died in 2018.
Private graveside service were held Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, Florida.
