Richard Joseph DiRico, 58, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his home in Port Charlotte.

Richard was born July 1, 1953 in Queens, New York and grew up in Long Island, New York. He lived with his family in Port Charlotte for 22 years. In the many years he spent in Port Charlotte, he assisted and volunteered in many organizations including, Charlotte County Baseball League. He was the assistant Athletic Director at Port Charlotte High School and is considered the founding father of competitive youth soccer in Charlotte County. He was a member of St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council # 11483. He was also a member of Sons of Italy Lodge #2507 in Port Charlotte. He was a wonderful father, brother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his 3 sons, Richard, Jonathan DiRico of Port Charlotte, Michael DiRico of Cape Coral, FL and his brother, John V. DiRico of Long Island, NY.

Visitation will be held 2:00PM-4:00PM & 6:00PM-8:00PM, Monday, October 24, 2011 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church, 1441 Spear Street Port Charlotte, FL 33948. Inurnment will be held at a later date by the family.

Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family. Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Port Charlotte Chapel.

To his boys and extended family, please accept my condolences on your loss. I grew up 4 houses down from the DiRico's with my second family, the Grilli's. Rich always had time for us younger kids, especially his cousins, Glenn and Kenny. I have so many memories of Rich showing us the way, baseball, basketball, and especially hockey.
