Richard Edward Murray, Jr., 56, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Friday, May 8, 2015 in Punta Gorda as a result of a motorcycle accident.
Richard was born Sept. 18, 1958 in Springfield, Massachusetts and moved to Florida in 1978.Though disable and retired from a work related injury, mere earthly forces could not deter him from the road. He loved motorcycles. He loved the unparalled freedom of riding, the expressiveness of jazz music and the freewheeling sounds of classic rock. He was a chef, an avid pursuer of zest and flavor in food and life. A puzzle master, movie buff, a dry wit humorist with an appreciation for low budget horror films and high class meals. He was a friend, father, husband and rebel.
Survived by his loving family, wife, Cindy L. Murray of Port Charlotte; two daughters, Jennifer L. Murray of Port Charlotte and Rebecca E. Murray of Bethel, CT; four sisters, Patty Mason, Debbie Clark and Colleen Buckley, all of North Port, FL and Sandy Murray of Port Charlotte; his mother, Gail Murray of Port Charlotte; and his father Richard E. Murray, Sr. of Monterey, CA.
Memorial services celebrating Richard’s life will be held Saturday 2:00 PM, May 16, 2015 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Rev. Bob Carlson of the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda will officiate.
